Alcon announced June 16 that its Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA) System had reached 2 million cases worldwide.
The system is composed of an intraoperative wavefront aberrometer and cloud-based AnalyzOR Technology database.
The aberrometer obtains real-time ocular measurements after the removal of the natural lens during cataract surgery to derive sphere, cylinder, and axis measurements.
ORA combines these measurements with calculations made preoperatively and recommends the IOL sphere and cylinder power to be implanted in the eye to achieve the lowest residual refractive error.
Surgeons’ postoperative refractive outcomes are used to further optimize the database.
Nexus is a next-generation integrated ultrasonic surgical platform that combines all the features of Misonix’s existing solutions, including BoneScalpel, SonicOne and Sonastar, into a single fully integrated platform that will also serve to power future solutions. The Nexus platform is driven by a new proprietary digital algorithm that results in more power, efficiency and control. Nexus uniquely incorporates RF capabilities, allowing for use in general surgery procedures.
